In 2009 the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) established a system of Maximum Catch Levels per vessel (quota) for the Centre – North Zone based on:

Steel Vessels: 60% historical fishing and 40% storage capacity
Wooden Vessels: 100% historical fishing

This system is recommended by the FAO, the World Bank and many environmental organizations. PRODUCE establishes a global quota for each season and the companies select the boats that will fish that quota. Since the implementation of the quota system, TASA has selected a lower number of boats than it actually owns. The assigned quota to TASA is 13.477%. We also acquire from third parties an estimated 9.09% of the total capture quota, which enables us to obtain a share of 22.567% of the total catch.
